A Simple site for parents and children dealing with TBI ( Traumatic Brain Injury).
We support our site with sales of special books we recommend through Amazon and other ads of products we hope you find useful. We strive to make them non-obtrusive and especially targeted for you. We also sell a membership which includes an intimate look into our everyday lives. It is only $25.00 per year and we will start you off with copies of our original diary kept and sent to family and friends during his stay at the hospital.
I would like to charge you nothing, but when your family struggles through a tragedy, money is tight and time would be too short to do this site for you. I want to be able to share with you all the personal experiences I have had over the years.

This site is a labor of love. It is for all the suffering families and people living with the newest of head-injuries to the long term aspects.

People deal with tragedy in different ways. I have always dealt with it by gathering information. I feel the need to be informed. Some counselor somewhere once said it was my coping skill. Okay, I'll buy that.

When my son was hit my a vehicle in Sept of 2001 my whole world collapsed. I didn't know what I would do. I focused on his care and finding out how I could help him live again.

I looked everywhere for information and I was greeted with an extensive medical information that I tried to quickly absorb. I will share that with you here....

BUT...

I hope to go beyond critical care here and those of you that are dealing with critical care now need to have this in mind, that far after your time in the hospital and therapy, life will have some things in store for you. I could not find any good information on the lasting effects of Brain Injury. So when I decided to build this site, I wanted to make sure that I included as far as we have come and I hope to update you over the period of years to come. As you will learn on this site, recovery begins fast then things become slow, so people don't change quickly after about 2 years. If you and your child are already past the first 2 years of recovery, please click here.

My son's name is Bryan. I will introduce you to him pre-accident and post accident (yes, there is a difference), I will take you on both his and our journey.

Some of the information I provide on this site will refer to outside sources, simply because every brain injury is different and need specific addressing. Bryan only had one progression of brain injury and I will attempt to touch on each that I can think of and provide you with resources to help.

I hope this site helps someone out there looking for answers. I hope that you are comforted and supported. I hope that you have a clear understanding of what is going on.
